So, I was going to blog tonight about a different subject, but my hands are still shaking. As you know the pacific coast is heated up, especially here in S. America. There was the quake in Chile that was of serious magnitude and then Peru has had several under 5.0 and we had one near us a few weeks ago at 5am about 4.2 or something (I didn't feel it.).
Well, we just had one and I'll tell you, felt that baby! It was a jolt. I mean no mistaking what's happening. The question is......what to do? Where to go? I have thought about it before. I thought the maid's room, but then there are boxes stacked on the dresser in there right now, could fall. closet i guess...need a better plan.
Richard is off to play soccer. Of course I called and the lines are jammed. I sent a text to say I was okay. I haven't heard back. I think he has his phone off as he is playing soccer tonight....great.
So, yea oh man...and as I write this.....an aftershock....cripes. It's hard to know if it is going to get stronger or only be a long wavering shake. Okay, so this is weird. It was fairly mild. The last one really got my heart racing. I mean the jolt felt like it could be a big one. This aftershock sorta makes you feel nauseated. It's weird.
We have had tremors before in Ilo, but Ilo is built on serious rock and no damage ever happens there I guess. I don't know about Tacna nor do I know about this building. Other than we are in the middle of the building. I'm not an earthquake person. I'm an Idaho girl...but obviously going to have to learn fast. Something broke at the neighbors house when the rumble happened, but I think she was washing dishes, maybe. I don't think anything fell in our house, but I did tell Richard we should secure the TV to the stand. Maybe now he'll take me more seriously.

Anyway, it reminds me we need a disaster plan, because if you don't then you wish you did. Like where to meet in an emergency because of course we are separate more than together. I sort of mentioned it, but I don't know that he'd remember. I said in front of the Cathedral, which is the main plaza about 4 blocks away.
Anyway, ooooh wow. Okay, you just never know. The pacific plates they are a movin. Hopefully that's as bad as it gets. It is a horrible feeling when it happens though, in the moment. We are so not in control. The earth moves under our feet....volcanos erupt. The earth is definitely alive.
