Afternoon coconut water. Yumm.

Boca del Drago Beach

Painting of Bocas area. You can get a general sense of the islands, distance etc. Click to enlarge for better view.

Kitchen at Hostel Heike. Crazy meals were prepared there. Many at the same time.

Wizard Beach

Well, I´ve been gone almost a week and it feels much, much longer. I think that´s good. It´s been an interesting week here in Bocas. The best way to describe it is as a party-surf town. It´s small and quaint and people seem to party every night. Not in a crazy way but each bar takes its turn during the week being the "it" spot. It´s interesting.

The weather was wonderful yesterday and I spent the day on Boca del Drago beach with a few others I met. It´s on the north point of the main island and has a great view with gentle surf. The water was so warm it felt great and there was a gentle breeze. I haven´t been doing much of anything. I´ve met some really nice people however and I´ve had plenty of people to hang out with which has been great! I´m currently hanging out with a girl named Corola from Vancouver, B.C. Shes a single female world traveler too and so it´s been great to bounce ideas off of her. Weve also been cooking some meals together to save money. It´s been heavily raining at night. I really like to listen to the pounding rain on the metal roof. It´s like a concert and amazingly enough, I can still fall asleep. Hostel Heike where I am now staying is much better than Mondo Taitu frat house I was living in before. Yuk. I didn´t realize that I do like clean and tidy things.

I think I will refer to my time in Bocas as my week in a frat. Since I never really lived that life before, this is a little window into it. Anyway, it´s been great fun just hanging out. It´s amazing how tiring you get doing not much of anything. Tomorrow will be great. It´s the celebration of the founding of the Islands by Columbus. The town will be crazy with bands from all the schools, a big parade, food etc. I´m looking forward to the celebration. Then I´ll make my way back to San Jose. I don´t have that all figured out yet, but I will. I´ll let you know how it all goes.
