Richard is a huge soccer fan.......or as he would correct me.....futbol. He is a goalie and loves to play as often as he can, which is about 2 times a week on Tues and Thurs from 9:30 to 11:30pm. Yes, it's a crazy time, but it's what works here. It's a modified version on a smaller concrete court with 5 players and the goalie.
His nickname is the "arana negra" the black spider. He also loves to watch soccer. He loves Boca Junior and a few other teams. Brazil...I forget anyway....
So this past weekend the local banks had a tournament. 7 teams. It was very exciting for me, because it was the first time I have actually seen him play in 9 months. Here it is a bit of a sexist thing. It's a guys only event. No women spectators.....I'm good with it mostly cause it's good stress reduction for him, but really.
Anyway, it was an all day event from first game at 3:30pm to about 10pm. There was loud cumbia music and food and his bank brought balloons etc to cheer the guys on. However, they took 4th. His team is not in shape because they don't play often as he does. They drank beer before the first game and had a few injuries, but it was fun time!
I'll post photos when my computer isn't so lame!
