More Lives than a Cat

So, I have had great luck in S. America so far and in general when things could go bad for me, they seldom do. Today was no different! I am sooooo blessed.

I stayed in Arequipa 2 extra days to pick up Richard´s passport and a blood analysis on me and I go back later today. So, I was walking around town, probably a bit too flippantly. I was on my way to our favorite sandwich shop Mamut for lunch. There is huge construction going on and the road is completly tore up, but the treck along the side to get there is worth it.

Anyway, I had my larger fabric bag with me, with a coat and my smaller purse that I use in it. It was faily full inside, but it was zipped up. The error I made was allowing it to be behind me, not in front of me. I know better but.....anyway, I felt something and looked down and noticed my bag was lighter and looked inside and my purse was gone and of course it has both our passports, several hundred dollars and other important documents. Luckily it all happened in a spit second and I turned to my left and the guy was moving ahead of me and had it in his hands. I saw it and grabbed it from him. ¨that´s my purse¨he said it fell out........yea........I don´t think so! He started walking away and I yelled thief in Spanish but it was too late to do anything. Thank God that I got it back. I can´t believe it. Everything was there. He didn´t run. He should have run if he was smart. I´m so thankful. That would have been a mess! So I still went on to lunch and my heart calmed down. A good lesson to keep up my vigilance. The area where I was there are a lot of tourists. I don´t think it would happen or much less likely in Ilo, but here.....gotta be careful. So yea Dad add this story to the list of things my guardian angels have helped with!
