The subdivision where our possible land is located is called 7 Mayo (May 7th). It is a large tract of land originally owned by a fisherman's association. The man that is selling it is 68 years old. He has lived in Ilo for 50 years and wants to go back where his family lives near Chimbote. He was a fisherman for many years.
Anyway, we went to meet with him last night. Richard thinks there may be some issue with the registration etc of the land and possible back taxes. So the owner is going to go to city hall in the next couple of days and get it all straight, we hope. He says he has a letter from the mayor saying he doesn't have to pay the taxes because he is retired. We don't know. It's almsot $1,000. Anyway, we have set a new date for Monday to go to a notary and sign the papers and we hope everything is in order.
Not sure with my being on a tourist visa if I can be on the title or not. We'll find that out too. Anyway, that's the scoop. I'm hoping to go and take photos today of the area. Cheers.
