So I don't remember where I left off and it doesn't really matter. We gave up on the old man and his lot overlooking the park. It was never going to happen. I don't know what is problem was, but it doesn't matter. Richard gave it one more try and found a lot that just had the sign put up on it. Of course. So he called and it happened to be someone he knew. The guy used to work for a bank compeditor and is now a real estate agent of sorts, if there is such a thing here, he'd be it.
Anyway, he said he had some other people looking at it, but he'd give us preference. The real surprise, it was significantly cheaper than the other 2 lots who we knew were overpriced! The other exciting part was that it was slightly larger than the others. Seemed too good to be true, but we met with him that night.
It's a block off the park, but this lot looks toward the ocean. We were hoping it was a corner lot, but no luck, one over from the corner. I have a copy of the plan. I'll scan it and post it just for fun. Not that anyone cares, but it's fun for me. So we looked at each other, after looking at the lot and said, okay why not. This time I was much more reticent to get exited. The next day we put down a deposit and hoped for the best. Then of course there was some paperwork involved on my part. So on Monday I went to Immigration and paid $50 to get a special stamp so that I can legally sign contracts in Peru (temporarily). Yes, my passport is looking so pretty at this point.
By this time after all that has transpired in trying to find a piece of land to call our own, I just let it go and tried to forget about it. Well, this time it seemed that the deal was going to happen or at least get further than the last time. So yesterday we went to the notary and signed the contract they had written up and put my finger print next to my signature and paid the final sum. I thought, great we did it. However, no still more to learn. So we had to pay a tax (of course) and now we have to wait 5 days for the notary to take the various paper to various offices in City Hall to register the property etc and if that all works out......then it's ours. So again, further but cautious. But still exciting....except that now we are playing with the idea of possibly living in Cuzco, but that is another story entirely! And we are justing talking, dreaming, ruminating mother...nothing more. :)
