On the Road to Guatemala

After 25 hours on the bus over 3 days. I have been enjoying myself in Guatemala. I am really done with this fast traveling business however. It is not for me. I am here in San Marcos la Laguna on Lake Atitlan. It is the perfect place to relax. It is serene, beautiful and a slower pace. I did have a nice time in lovely Antigua. The original place that the Spaniards came. It still has cobblestone streets and a great quaintness about it, as well as tons of tourists. So I had an insane ride here that almost did me in. I don't have the energy to go over it now, but lets just say it involved a beer drinking, knowitall, rasta guy and Israeli girl, a woman from Holland and tons of winding streets. When I arrived after a few modes of transportation and some local Mayan guys guided me through the dark winding paths to this great Hotel Aaculaax. It cost more than I spend for 3 nights, about $32 bucks, but the bed, the view and the pillows were worth it.

I have since moved to Posada Schumann by the water and Ill be here a few days. I may go over to the meditation center. I'm also going to do some yoga. Anyway, I had a great time kayaking on the lake today and I'm really going to settle down from all this intense travel. I know it sounds crazy but its exhausting finding places to stay, to eat and etc. I'm ready to settle for a bit. Then I have a long trek to Tikal in the north, but Im told its worth it.
